American MMA fighter Anthony Rumble Johnson passes away at 38 due to an undisclosed illness

According to Bellator MMA, Anthony ‘Rumble” Johnson, an American MMA lightweight fighter, has died at 38 due to an undisclosed condition.

“It is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of Anthony Rumble” Johnson, Bellator MMA announced via social media on Sunday.

“The BELLATOR family is deeply saddened by his passing. We send our condolences and support to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

Johnson joined the UFC as a lightweight heavyweight in 2007. He was ranked the number one contender for light heavyweight in 2014. Johnson retired in 2017.

Johnson retired after four years of being away from mixed martial art and joined Bellator MMA 2021.

Johnson beat Jose Augusto by knockout in his last fight to move to 23-6 for his career.

Two-time Olympian Daniel Cormier and MMA fighter paid tribute to Johnson.

Anthony Johnson was a man who brought fear to so many people’s hearts, and he was a caring individual. From random texts to checking in during loss. Rumble will be remembered for the kind of person he was. Sometimes life doesn’t seem fair. Cormier said, “Horrible news.”
