Jeff Bezos suggests he is buying the Washington Commanders. ‘We’ll need to wait and watch”

Jeff Bezos could be adding an NFL owner to his resume.

Jay-Z and the Amazon founder are currently in discussions about a possible joint bid for the Washington Commanders. This was reported earlier this year. It is unclear if they have spoken with Dan Snyder or Tanya, who are the current owners of the NFL team.

The billionaire businessman was asked this weekend if he wanted to purchase the team.

Bezos smiled and said, “Yes, that buzz”

Bezos said that he was born in Houston, Texas, and played football as a child.

He said that it was his favorite sport in an interview. “So we’ll just need to wait and watch.”

Snyder was accused by the House Oversight Committee of creating a toxic workplace and conducting a shadow investigation to find his accusers and pin the blame on others and influence the NFL’s internal review.” Snyder denied the allegations but is looking at selling the team.

Following an investigation by Beth Wilkinson, the NFL fined the Commanders $10 Million.

Why would Bezos buy the Commanders? This team is one the most recognizable in one of the most popular leagues in sports. The team is located in the huge Washington, DC market and has won three Super Bowls (1983, 1988, and 1992).

The NFL is America’s biggest TV ratings powerhouse and is a huge hit with Amazon Prime Video. It is also the only home for “Thursday Night Football”.

Jay Marine, Prime Video’s head for sports, stated in an internal memo that Prime Video’s debut “exceeded all expectations for viewership” in September and resulted in “the largest three hours for US Prime signing-ups ever in Amazon history.”
