House Speaker Mike Johnson said the race between former President Trump and Vice President Harris, just days away, should come down to policy.

“Look at the record of these two candidates, this shouldn’t be about personalities. It should be about policy,” Johnson said Sunday morning on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper pressed Johnson on former President Trump’s recent remarks, and Johnson attempted to redirect the interview and talk about Harris’s record.

Johnson said Harris is to blame for the cost of living and Trump is going to provide voters “alternatives.”

He said when he’s on the campaign trail for Trump, voters express their concerns about the vice president.

“I’ve been in over 230 cities and 40 state rights now, and I’m spending these final closing weeks in the swing states, in blue states and toss up districts for the House,” Johnson said. “I’m absolutely convinced there’s an energy out there right now. I’m convinced that we’re going to win the White House, the Senate and the House.”

According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Harris leads by 2.1 percent nationally based on an aggregation of polls.
