President-elect Trump talked about drones, vaccines, foreign wars and his Cabinet in a wide-ranging press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Monday morning. At the start, he announced a new $100 billion investment by SoftBank Group.

Congress has a looming deadline of Friday to avert a government shutdown, and lawmakers are sprinting to reach a deal to keep the government funded. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) was expected to unveil the text of a stopgap on Sunday, but negotiations continue. Funding for farmers appears to be a key sticking point.

Meanwhile, the clamor in Congress for information on drone sightings is getting louder. On Sunday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) called on the Department of Homeland Security to deploy technology to detect drones.

Also this week, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is scheduled to visit Capitol Hill and meet with Senate Republicans as he tries to win support for his nomination to be secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

On the Senate floor, lawmakers will consider the annual defense bill, known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), after the House cleared the sprawling measure last week.

That’s where we’re starting Monday. Follow along all day for updates.
