This is a book two, so there will be spoilers from book one below.
Adrius isn’t talking to Marlow, but she knows she needs to break his curse. She’s still dealing with her charges and finding out that Vale is her father. Adrius promised his sister he would find a wife if she helped Marlow with her case. Marlow has to watch Adrius flirting and dancing with other girls. But she goes to see him in private and they still have that spark. They steal moments whenever they can. Marlow starts spending a lot of time with Vale and he seems like he generally cares for her and wants to make Evergarden and the Marshes better. But when Marlow finds out what he plans on doing to make that happen, she seeks help to find a way to destroy the grimoire with the spell.
There are a lot of deaths in this book and some are pretty gross (in case someone needs that warning). I really enjoyed all the characters and relationships in this book Just like in the first book, I loved the curse magic. The pacing was good. While I liked book one a bit more, I still thought this one was great and found it hard to put down.
I gave this book 5 stars.
