Another hard to put down book by Shari Lapena.
This book was a bit crazy. There were quite a few characters, but it wasn’t too hard to follow the story. Stephanie and Patrick are the couple with the most plot. They have young twins with colic and are just struggling to function every day. Erica shows up at his work and shocks Patrick. He hadn’t seen her in nine years and he knew it meant nothing good. Erica decides to blackmail Patrick saying that she knows he killed his first wife and will have the case reopened in Colorado. Patrick told Stephanie that his pregnant wife died in an accident, but he never told her the details. Or that he was sleeping with Erica who was his wife’s best friend. Erica precedes to threaten his family and looks into ways to blackmail other people. Stephanie is probably the only likeable person in this book. Erica makes Stephanie start to question what she really knows about her husband. Erica says he’s dangerous and she’s worried for Stephanie and the girls. But Erica is also a liar. Stephanie doesn’t know what to believe and things just keep getting worse throughout the book.
I gave this book 4 1/2 stars.
