We take our mission as a public university seriously and are committed to finding ways to provide opportunities for all students. At SUNY New Paltz, 90% of students receive paid assistantships, scholarships, and tuition waivers. All accepted out-of-state and international graduate MFA students receive a scholarship, waiving out-of-state tuition. For those interested in teaching at the collegiate level, our program offers competitive paid teaching appointments which include a partial tuition waiver, stipends, and health insurance. Our students go on to successful careers as artists, educators, and arts administrators.
Just 90 minutes north of New York City in the historic Hudson River Valley, our nationally accredited MFA programs provide access to cutting-edge artists, historians, critics, and curators. The intensive and selective two-year MFA program includes concentrations in Ceramics, Painting and Drawing, Photography and Related Media, Printmaking, Metal, and Sculpture. Our comprehensive facilities include over 150,000 square feet of research and production space as well as the world-class Dorsky Museum of Art.
The Art Department faculty members are dedicated teachers and practicing artists with significant national reputations.
