Former President Trump is holding a town hall event in the critical swing state of North Carolina Friday evening.
The event comes just hours after he was scheduled to join Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) in the Peach State to view storm damage from Hurricane Helene — his second visit to the state this week. Helene, the deadliest storm since Hurricane Katrina, has left more than 200 people dead along with record flooding and millions recovering from power outages in the Southeastern U.S., including North Carolina.
Trump is expected to tour areas hit by the storm in the Tar Heel State next week.
The former president launched a GoFundMe page for hurricane victims earlier this week and has raised more than $5 million as of Friday afternoon.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index shows Trump leading Vice President Harris by just less than 1 point in North Carolina — 49.1 percent to 48.3 percent.
The town hall in Fayetteville, N.C., is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EDT.
